According to: www.biblestudytools.com/dictionary, the meaning of covenant is of Latin origin, and means, “a coming together” and indicates that “two or more parties are coming together to make a contract, and these agree on promises, privileges, stipulations, and responsibilities.” One covenant we might be familiar with is a marriage. In Zechariah 9:11, the prophet speaks of Jesus when he states, “by the blood of thy covenant I have sent forth thy prisoners out of the pit wherein is no water” (KJV). Jesus made a blood covenant with those of us who believe He is the Son of God, and decide by an act of our will to follow Him. He willingly went to the cross and gave His Blood to cover our sins and give us access to our Heavenly Father. This covenant is received by faith, not by our good works, thank God! He cancelled our sins because of his spotless life and choice to be a sacrifice for us. What kind of God dies for his people? Only one… Check Him out! There are priviledges, stipulations, and responsibilities, but all is for our great good!
