This word comes from the Greek word doulos, which means “one who is subservient to, and entirely at the disposal of, his master” (www.gotquestions.org). This is very heavy stuff, and very hard for Americans to grasp. Most of us are not used to serving others, and are not willing. When we CHOOSE to be a bondservant to the Lord, we become more like Jesus. In Philippians 2:7 it states that Jesus, “made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant and was made in the likeness of men” (KJV). Paul, James and Jude also wrote that they were bondservants of the Lord. Herein lies the key to the power of God. When you obey the Lord God’s voice, and live only to please Him, He will trust you with His Power. You must die to your own plans and desires, and serve Him willingly. So then you will be given the secrets to the Kingdom of God. “Lord teach us what it means to be Your servants, and give us the grace to do it!” Amen.
