If you have animals and live in the country, you have to keep your cows, chickens, goats, horses, and even pets penned up for the most part. Why? If they get out, they will leave your property and go elsewhere, or be attacked by a predator, or even stolen. You keep the gates shut to protect your livestock… In the spirit realm, it is the same way. You must protect your family, friends, church, property, and your own mind from the enemies that satan sends your way. You can pray a hedge around all of this, as Job did in Job 1, sanctifying all that he had with prayer and sacrificial giving. We have a better source of fencing: the Blood of the Lamb and the Word of our testimony is our surefire strong tower and defense (Revelation 12:11). However, we also have to keep the gates shut that keep evil out of our lives. Keep your eyes from anything that comes against the heart of the Holy Spirit, who can be grieved and leave our presence. Don’t do the things you know are wrong, and ask the Father to make you aware of anything that will open a gate to give demons permission to hang out on your property. Seek God, pray, obey, worship, and listen to the five-fold ministers. Close the gates to evil!
