When the times we are living in seem hard, it could be that evil is being exposed. For evil to be exposed, it has to rise to the surface and be seen, because it is always deeper and more hidden than we want to believe. Evil is deceptive, and tries to wiggle away when light is shined on it. Ponds sometimes “turn over” when the hot days of summer turn suddenly cool in the fall. The deep, dark, muddy water from the bottom actually flips to the top, and fish and algae die from exposure and lack of oxygen. This happens in the spirit, also, when evil is brought up from the bottom, into the light, it brings the stench of sin up to the top. Don’t worry, though, Jesus told us in John 8:12: “I am the Light of the world: he who follows Me will not walk in the darkness, but will have the Light of life.” Stay on the top of the pond!
