There is a very powerful illustration of the difference in flesh and spirit at the end of the book of John. After Jesus’ resurrection from the dead, his disciples decided to go fishing, which was their old vocation before they began to hang out with Him. They were in a fishing boat, and fished all night. In the morning, a man stood on the shore and yelled to them, “Have ye any meat?” In other words, “have you caught anything?” They answered, “No.” “Throw your net in on the other side of the boat, and you will catch fish,” yelled the man. The disciples did so, and found that they could not even lift the net into the boat because of the multitude of fish. John turned to Peter and said, “It is the Lord!” (John 21:1-7, my take). You can toil all day and all night, but when the Power of God comes on the scene, miracles begin to happen quickly. We must be positioned in our boat, then HEAR and OBEY! Voila!
