We are to pray for those that God has put in power. King David (before he became the king) could have easily killed his worst enemy Saul in 1 Samuel 26, but he refused because he knew that God had ordained Saul to be the king. Saul was jealous of David and tried to kill him several times but failed, because David was protected by the Lord until he had proven himself to be honorable to the people and to God, and Saul and his sons were killed in war. Because he honored the King of Israel, David became the king. 1 Timothy 2:2 states: “First of all, then, I urge that petitions, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgiving be offered on behalf of all men, for kings and all those in authority, so that we may lead tranquil and quiet lives in all godliness and dignity” (KJV). It seems we have forgotten to do this, and all we want to do is to criticize and mock instead of pray. How different things would be if we would just HEAR the Word and Do it, after all, they are just men who need the wisdom of the Lord…
