There are 3 things listed in Matthew 6 that we are supposed to do in secret. The first is in our giving. Don’t let anyone know how much or where you give. Don’t even let your right hand know what your left hand does. The second is in your praying. Jesus tells us to, “enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut the door, pray” (Matthew 6:6, KJV). The third thing you must do in secret, is to fast. Don’t tell everybody what you are doing to bring attention to yourself, but only so the Father knows what you are doing. All three of things are spoken of separately in the same chapter, but guess what! All three of these Christian foundations which Jesus spoke about in Matthew 6 end with exactly the same words: “and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly” (Matthew 6: 4,6, & 18, KJV). All promotion comes from the Father, and these commands from Jesus show us how to humble ourselves with God, and to do these things in total submission and secrecy, so that God can reward us openly! This is a Kingdom principle secretly exposed to us by Jesus.
