Jesus had been arrested and hit and scourged. He was standing before Pilot with the Jews accusing him because of their jealousy of his wonderful miracles. Pilate speaks to them, “Shall I crucify your king? The chief priests answered, ‘We have no king but Caesar'” (John 19:15, KJV). He (The Christ) had humbled himself to be born in a stable, raised a carpenter’s son, anointed by the Holy Spirit, and had performed many innumerable miracles and cures, including raising the dead. The religious leaders still couldn’t get their minds around the fact that he did all those things because he was the Son of God, the King of Kings, and LORD of LORDS. He was indeed their King, but their own jealousies and unbelief had caused them to want him to be crucified. What kind of king will willingly go to a cross and be brutally killed for his people? What kind of king will willingly suffer horribly to take away the sins of his people. We have such a king! His name is Jesus, and he now sits on the right hand of God the Father, and is indeed our King!
