A keel is defined in audioenglish.org as “one of the main longitudinal beams of the hull of a vessel; can extend vertically into the water to provide lateral stability, OR the median ridge on the breastbone of birds that fly.” What a word! A keel keeps the ship from turning over when the winds and waves are knocking into the side of it. It is heavily weighted so that it will keep the boat from tipping, and provide the stability to keep the boat afloat. Sound familiar? The LORD is described as a “rock,” “fortress,” “high tower,” “place of safety” and “stronghold” in Psalm 18:2. He will keep you from turning over when the storms come, and keep you “centered-down” if you put your trust in Him! A keel is also the breastbone of a bird to which the ribs are attached. The LORD will help you fly over your problems as you fix your trust on The LORD Holy Spirit within your breast. He will hold your ribs together when you feel as if you might fly apart. Ask me how I know!!!
