Jeremiah was a prophet who carried a heavy burden. He had to tell the Jews about their sins and what was going to happen to them as a nation if they did not change their ways. He knew beforehand, that they would not listen to him, but the LORD had instructed him to give them His Words. In the midst of the rejection and unbelief of his people, Jeremiah finds comfort in the Word of the LORD alone. “Thy words were found, and I did eat them; and thy word was unto me the joy and rejoicing of mine heart: for I am called by thy name, O LORD God of hosts” (Jeremiah 15:16, KJV). Jeremiah found the secret place of the LORD in His Words. We have many words to bring us joy in the Bible: many promises, comforts, exhortations, wisdom, and knowledge of the future. God also speaks to us today through anointed pastors, prophets, evangelists, pastors and teachers. Let these words lead us closer to the LORD of all joy and rejoicing!
