The Apostles had trouble believing what Jesus said. He had informed them that He would have to suffer and die, but that He would be raised from the dead (John 12:31, 14:28, 16:7, and Matthew 17:22, for a few). He kept telling them that He would be killed and then rise again. The Apostles, much like us today, would hear the Words of Jesus, but not really grasp what He was saying. What is worse, once Jesus was crucified, they could not believe that He actually arose from the dead and walked the earth teaching them more about the Kingdom of God. They didn’t believe Mary Magdalene, who was the first to the tomb and had seen and talked to Jesus. He then appeared to two other disciples who were on their way into the country. When they told the disciples, they were not believed. “Afterward he appeared to the eleven as they sat at meat, and upbraided them with their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they believed not them which had seen him after the resurrection” (Mark 16:14). Do you believe what the LORD speaks to you in his Word? Can you dare to believe that things will be like He says?
