Jesus gave his disciples the last supper, and told them to use bread and wine to remember Him with. How strange… What was He trying to do? He wanted them to do something to remember the great sacrifice He was going to make for all who would believe in Him, and to remember how He was going to open up the Heavenly gates (the way into the Holy of Holies) by His sacrifice. He had to come to earth, show us how the Father loves us, and wants to move in this earth, then die on that cross on Calvary so that we ourselves could approach the Father openly with total confidence because of His death and resurrection. His body (the bread), was abused in many ways for us, and His blood (the wine), was shed from the beatings all the way to the cross, so that all our sins could be wiped away once and for all in the Father’s remembrance. This is all remembered when we take communion, which is communicating with God because of what His Son did, and receiving forgiveness and acceptance through eternity. Enjoy your salvation. Jesus paid the entire price for it!
