One of the first things Jesus stated in his public ministry was: “repent and believe the gospel” (Mark 1:15, KJV). Repent means to change, to be sorry for sin, and to turn to do good. We can repent for the sins of past generations (Psalm 79:8), which will cleanse us from the consequences of our ancestor’s actions. Repentance is refreshing and cleansing, because God is a God of forgiveness from sin, and sent Jesus to be the door for us to enter in to be washed and cleansed so that we can enter the Heavenly Kingdom which is pure and undefiled. The Lord’s Prayer states, “forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation…” (Matthew 6: 12 & 13, KJV). How sweet it is to be forgiven, but we have to repent first, for ourselves and others, so that we can receive that forgiveness! Spend some of your precious time today repenting for the evil you see around you, instead of criticizing and judging it. You will get farther this way in affecting your world.
