We are all multiplicities. We have outside and inside behaviors. How strange that God made us that way: body, soul, and spirit. 1 Thessalonians 5:23 tells us this, so we need to understand what is going on. Of course, we know that our secret inner man is different from the outer man. The outer man can pretend, act, cover up emotions, or give into them. We can lie, exaggerate, and seem to be strong when inside we are terribly afraid. On the inside is the part of us that the devil wants to control, because that is where God the Holy Spirit desires to dwell. In fact, Psalm 44:21 states that. “Shall not God search this out? For he knoweth the secrets of the heart (KJV). You can hide things from people and friends and enemies, but you can’t hide them from God. Whatever thoughts are in your secret heart are revealed to Him. Why not be brutally honest with God, come to Him in humility, and ask Him to guide your thoughts. “Create in me a clean heart,” King David cried, “And renew a right spirit within me” in Psalm 51:10. How sweet it is to come clean with God, erase the slate, and be free!
