Thomas had a problem. He had to see something to believe it. If it wasn’t apparent to his natural eyes, it didn’t exist. In the spirit realm, things can exist in the parallel universe where angels and demons tread, and where believed-for promises and miracles are sent from Heaven. These answers to prayer and promises in God’s Word are sent, but hindered by unbelief. Thomas didn’t believe that Jesus had shown up after his death on the cross, but He had appeared to the other disciples. He said, “Except I shall see in his hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and thrust my hand into his side, I will not believe” (John 20:25, KJV). About 8 days later, Jesus shows up again, and tells Thomas to go ahead and feel the nail holes, and the hole in his side. All of the sudden, Thomas believes. Jesus rebukes him, and says, “Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed” (John 20:29). What a powerful lesson! Only believe what God tells you through His Word, until you see it!
