Jeremiah 4:22 (KJV) speaks by the Spirit about the children of God and their spiritual condition in his day, but are we not in the same predicament? “For my people is foolish, they have not known me; They are sottish children, and they have none understanding; They are wise to do evil, but to do good they have no knowledge.” I had to look “sottish” up because it is a word that we don’t often use, but Biblestudytools.com says it means “thick-headed,” and Wordnik.com states that it means, “stupefied from or as if from drink.” In other words, it means that the children of God were acting drunken, like they couldn’t think clearly, or see clearly, or even care. They knew how to live for the flesh, but not how to know or please God. You know, this is one thing I do NOT want the LORD to accuse me of. I do not want to be a sottish child, without understanding of God. Guard your thoughts and actions, find the mind and the will of God. Even some ‘good’ things can be harmful. Ask, seek, and receive the answers.
