When a big cold front comes through after very hot weather, there are usually some fierce storms with high winds, hail, and high water. So it is in the spirit realm. There will be storms and times when you want to hunker down and hide in a cave, but like the cedar and oak trees, you must spread your hands to Heaven and worship while you sway back and forth. You may lose some leaves and limbs, but you can make it without them. The only thing that matters is your root system from which you draw your true sustenance, like a baby attached in its mother’s womb, you are safe and secure because you are firmly grounded in God’s Word and His arms. When the storm is passed, you can be thankful that the cooler, more refreshing air is blowing on you, like a Father blowing on a hot baby’s face to calm and cool it off. “Lord, make us like the mighty oaks and cedars, so that when the winds of adversity blow, we can trust, because our roots are firmly implanted in YOU!” (Psalm 1).
