According to Ephesians 1:18 (NIV) Paul prayed that the “eyes of your heart may be enlightened.” How do you see with heart-eyes? You focus down inwardly and ask God to show you things you need to do, and where you need to go to cause circumstances to change. It is a purposeful giving of your heart’s imaginations to God in order to for Him to project things into you that He desires to tell you. It is like having a movie screen in your heart to connect to God’s projector, but you must allow it, expect it, and wait for it to begin. Then you must write down what He shows you, and keep it for reference and further thought and prayer. Enlighten means to: inform, tell, teach, advise, counsel, educate, instruct, illuminate, make aware, edify, apprise, let know, cause to understand (thefreedictionary.com). That is a lot packed into one little word, but it explains what God can do for you through the eyes of your heart. These eyes are not in your head, but are the eyes of faith in your innermost being. They will most often contradict what you are feeling and thinking because they are from the Spirit, and not from reason which is limited to one’s environment and education. Take time, get quiet, worship God or pray, then drop down into your heart, and wait for the show to begin!!
