We are living in a time and a season where it is imperative that we learn to trust God and hear his voice. There are many voices screaming for our attention, and many distractions to draw us away. It takes purposeful focus to keep our heart from the cares of the world which steal our peace. Jeremiah lived in such a time. Rebellion and wickedness were rampant, and when God gave him a word for the king, which he delivered, he gave the king some powerful advice: “Obey, I beseech thee, the voice of the Lord, which I speak unto thee: so it shall be well unto thee, and thy soul shall live” (Jeremiah 38:20). Unfortunately, King Zedekiah did not listen, and paid a great price. Get still, listen, spend quiet time in God’s Word. Hear what he is saying to your heart, and then go that direction. Even though it seems impossible, or ridiculous, do it anyway. It shows God you trust Him above all. Live from your insides, from your heart, not your own understanding, then it will be well with you!
