The word ‘anomaly’ popped into my head recently, so I looked it up on Merriam-webster.com/dictionary. It means, “something different, abnormal, peculiar, or not easily classified:” I also saw ‘anomaly detection’ in en.m.wikipedia.org: “In data mining, anomaly detection is the identification of rare items, events, or observations which raise suspicions by differing significantly from the majority of the data….Anomalies are also referred to as outliers, novelties, noise, deviations and exceptions.” The LORD was pointing me to the fact that Christians should be anomalies. We should be abnormal, peculiar and not easily classified by the world. Jesus said in John 15:19, “If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you (KJV). John 17:14-15 states, “I have given them your word, and the world has hated them because they are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. I do not ask that you take them out of the world, but that you keep them from the evil one (ESV). Don’t try to fit in. Be rare, differ significantly from others, be an outlier, totally devoted to Jesus and a novelty in this world to bring many to Him!
